The beloved local bird -- called Grumpy Gertie -- was recently found dead in the British village of Sandon, in Hertfordshire, north of London.
Police have now exhumed Gertie's body and sent it to the Royal Veterinary College in London to determine whether the goose was killed in a drive-by shooting, as local media have reported.
This old elf does not condone the wanton killing or harming of animals, but I never thought I would hear about a goose as a victim of a drive by shooting...

When I lived in England, there was a serial swan killer on the loose. To my amusement, this made the papers on a daily basis, because, of course, all of the swans in England belong to the queen, and I suppose it's a big deal to kill the queens things. Anyway, I don't know much about geese, but I'll tell you one thing, whoever that swan killer was, was doing us all a favor. Swans may seem like little pond angels, but I assure you it's a feeble disguise. They are in fact territorial hell spawn out to eat your children. Stay away from swans, they will attack you.

That's freaking hilarious Rele, and yes, geese are every bit as nasty as swans. We are pretty much overran here in Indy with Canada Geese. The hell of it is: you never see a goose where you could legally and ethically shoot one in season, they're usually hanging out at the doctor's officer or Meijer parking lot.
Wild turkeys are viscious as well, when a hunter shoots one in a group of males, the rest of the males will attack the downed bird. Yikes!
You would think the Queen's birds would have better manners though...
Cheers

We'll be taking our geese back very soon. Don't be shooting our mean birds!
